Christmas Shenanigans .....

...........first i'd like to thank everyone who came by to spend a few minutes with me while i waxed eloquent on my sleepless nights......and left such wonderful comments.... I'm happy to say that the last two nights have seen a return to normal and its at least been 7/7:30 am before i wake... whew...... Sure glad that doesn't happen often... I thought you might like to see the Mr. and Mrs. Santa I mentioned in that post... yellow with age but still lends a warmth and cheer to the holiday...

Hubby may not be too happy that i snapped this photo nor that i posted it here....shhhhh.... but it was a photo op that i could not pass up....If you did not see the previous post .... Hubby is wrapped up in Christmas afghans his mother ,who has been gone a few years now, made for us over the years.... And i thought it looked like he was wrapped up in his mothers love..........

......speaking of shenanigans ... I made some Tigerbutter last night... Have you ever heard of it?? Maybe you call it something else?  Well you take 8 squares of almond bark and melt it in the microwave for 2 minutes.... Add 1 cup of peanut butter and stir until all combined....

Now i have a nice flexible rubbermaid lid that i pour it into... But you just have to remember that its easier to remove the Tigerbutter when solid if you have a flexible container and do NOT use a glass container as it may shatter with the heat... Melt half a bag..or 6 oz of milk chocolate chips... Original recipe calls for semisweet... but semisweet has a 'wang' to it that i just cannot get past.. so i use milk chocolate................

Drop by spoonfuls on top of the almond bark/peanutbutter mixture and swirl around with a fork.... put in frig to cool

Then score and break into pieces.... Its something quick and easy to make and great for gift giving... ships well...  On a curious side note... I always like this recipe because its a play on my maiden name... which is Tigar but pronounced just like the animal... yeah... try growing up with that last name....lol

And last but not least my T partiers.... my Christmas PostCard for my swap partners.... I painted the back ground... I hope i succeeded in making it look like she was skating on ice... the large snowflakes are metallic ice blue paint and i hope to goodness the white snowflakes stayed glued on....  I hope everyone is enjoying the lead up to Christmas!! I'll be around to visit!! Hugs! deb

*** If you thought i was going to Eureka Springs.... well we didn't make it as my company came down sick and that just wouldn't be fun not feeling well... so... maybe another time... :(

Third Time This Week...........

..........I have woken up early.....  like somewhere between 3:30 -5 am........ and could not go back to sleep.....  I just lay there wide awake ... knowing that sleep is not going to come again but lay there nonetheless hoping......... Besides .. its a little warmer in bed anyway.... Finally i just get up....Jinx is happy.. he gets fed early....

Father Winter has come to the Ozarks...lol   That was my wish right?  lol Watch what you wish for... just sayin' ....
Brrr... its cold... no snow... For me if its gonna be cold it might as well snow so i can have a little fun...lol  But here i sit with my coffee and some toast... I turned the Christmas tree lights on for a bit of cheer..  Our first year setting up the tree in this house... Its pretty and its fun finding new homes for all my bits and bobs..

Apparently i've been too noisy... now hubby is up... and has flung himself on the couch in the light of the tree and covered himself with the crocheted afghan from his mother that is almost as old as our going on 30yr marriage... I like to think of him wrapped in his mother's love.......

My Christmas decor has always brought me a sort of comfort... Its been amassed over three decades or more and much of it brings fond memories.. I have a Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus that have the little pegs in them and light up.. It was one of my first ceramics i painted when i was pregnant 30 years ago.... All the white parts have taken on a yellowed aged look... I could repaint it.. but I rather like that it shows it age......

I have a stack of Christmas cards that encompasses  30+ years and every few years i'll sit down and go thru them remember old friends and family... add new cards.. tie a ribbon around them and set them on the coffee table...pssst... some names i'm sad to say neither hubby or i remember who they are....

So i'm actually looking forward to a bit of a warm up in the next couple days... We are planning a trip to Eureka Springs Monday i think ... 60 F should be nice enough... Eureka Springs has alot of fun little shops... very touristy .. but i enjoy it.. Last year we found a cute little coffee shop that has a good breakfast too.. So many creative and artistic shops.. I know i'll come home with alot of ideas...lol  Well  I hope your staying warm... I'm pulling out a pair of thermals! If i don't figure out this sleep thing expect a few more posts like this...lol  Hugs! deb

Expanding my Horizons............

I knew..... I knew you guys had to be getting tired of seeing everything i make have some hint of copper... So i purposely 'expanded my horizons' a little and played with silver and gold too...

And........ if i'm completely honest.. i ended up liking the silver and gold more than the copper...lol

I just LOVE that little gold key.....

Now i love steampunk... i haven't had much chance to play with that genre myself but i like the look of it and i like the little 'bling' i put on the gear... These guys will hang on my Christmas tree but i did have a family member who said she wanted the silver one for a necklace....

This is how they started.... I bought them last year at Walmart ... a pkg of 6 for $2... spray painted them black then dry brushed them... So including the little doodad i added to each one i guess they cost me about 80 cents each to make... Pssst... Walmart is selling them again this year too in their Christmas decor...

Well my T people its been sooooooo warm here... I saw a snake today taking a walk! A snake in December!!! Crazy! Rain is blowing in this afternoon and colder temps for the next several days.... Maybe the snakes will go back to sleep!!  Take care and i hope your having a nice Holiday season! Hugs! deb

Thanksgiving Recap for T.......

Well Thanksgiving is gone for another year....... I find myself still tired from it all... Trying to make a house that is still under construction presentable and for me the stress of all the people (not a people person here) and the cooking... i find it just kind of took its toll on me this year...and i feel the need to squirrel myself away a little bit....  I've buried myself off in the craftroom the last few days and hope to feel myself soon..... I'am happy to say that before company came i did complete a few projects i wanted to get done...

Mr. Frog.... you may remember him... i've had him for awhile... TX...CA and now Arkansas...

But he's looking a little worse for wear... ....and needed a little TLC...

I painted him with the oilrubbed bronze and highlighted him with the copper... I want to put an outdoor clearcoat on him but i don't have any at the moment... You can see him finished in the header... He wasn't out there an hour before he got bird pooped on!!! sigh..

Some of you may remember i had these words hanging up in CA but some of them were Teal in color... I didn't want that color here so i redid those and crackled them copper and black like the rest... Then hubby put them up... Let me point out something that bugs me... sigh .... See the word memories?(below)  See that it has a capital 'M' ? I soooo badly want that word all the way to the left... like at the beginning of a sentence even though i know its not a sentence... it just seems its 'proper' place... Hubby wanted it where it is now, next to family..... and i cannot  always knock down his ideas.. thats not nice... but boy i had to bite my tongue on this one... it bugs me every time i look at it... sigh ...

Does it bug you???

Please excuse the glare.... the egg holders got done!!! My curio cabinet is full full full.... I cannot collect another thing and not one more egg!!! lol

I even had to resort to putting them on other shelves....

Ta Daaaaa.... Now they are at least all standing up.. :) Remember the egg holders are leftover pieces of pvc from the house remodel .. covered in scrapbooking paper and edged in gold..

I've been working on my Christmas PostCards for my swap partners here lately... trying out color schemes and mediums.. Lots of fun!   Thats an Inkadinkado stamp i found at a flea mkt a while ago.. first time using it... :)

And finally my coffee for the week.... This used to be a brochure for a truck that i decided to upcycle.... I mailed it to Eileen and i think she will show you the rest of it this week ..... if not.. here's the link.....Well thats all my friends .. I'm so glad you stopped by for a visit ....  Thank you Ms Elizabeth for hosting us again this week as in every week... You sure do put on a lovely T party! You invite the nicest people.. :) Hugs! deb

happy Thanksgiving..........

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate and even if you don't know that i'm thankful for you... for your time... your kindness...and your thoughtfulness...your visits....  Above are two PostCards i sent out on a wing and a prayer a few days ago hoping against hope that will make to their recipients in time for Thanksgiving... I'm terrible with deadlines...
Starbucks hands out these cards with some of their coffees ...gorgeous on the front and on the back they explain about the coffee flavors and origins... anyway so i used some of these and deconstructed them into a mosaic tile.. The postcard base i painted a gold  so show thru the mosaic pieces... In the center is where the name of the coffee went.. I cut that out and replaced it with a magazine cut out of a Thanksgiving scene...  and stamped the words Be Thankful....

Its the whirlwind before company comes..... cleaning, finishing up a few projects... got our family portraits on the wall...  I wish i had got the woodburning done but just not gonna happen... Soon it will be time to start cooking... Today we want to get out there and clean up some pineneedles off the front of the place and the back deck and the gutters...I would let alot of the needles lay  but hubby NEEDS them picked up..... thats what happens when you take a Virgo to the woods......oy vey... life in a pine forest.......... :)  Happy Thanksgiving and Happy happy T day!!! Hugs! deb

T stands for posTcard.......

                                               A mixed media Postcard!
This PostCard was once a cereal box or some such food box and i lightly sanded it and  put several coats of gesso on it and tried my hand at an ombre blue acrylic paint background ... then painted on a tree branch....Hubby brought me home some brochure from somewhere that had this cute little puppy on it and said  ' I KNEW you'd want it' ...lol See i have 'my people' trained...lol

I had a pretty piece of scrapbooking paper in Fall colors and my oak leaf punch and went at it... making sure i got some of the gold that was on the paper... I used a small set of letter stamps with archival ink.... The letters are a little hard to read but i don't have a fine point white pen or i would have highlighted them or something..

Now this person i'm sending it to wants it to go in an envelope not just a postcard naked thru the mail... so i cut it to the size of a business envelope AND this person wants me to put a magnet on the back so she can hang it on her frig which is really kind of funny when you know that i used to hang that person's art on my frig when she was little.... lol

Before you run off my little T partiers ... I wanted to show you the latest finished project... Above is the before... Its a sun and was a part of a wine bottle holder.... I got it for a steal at a yard sale... Hubby cut off the wine bottle holder part...as we don't drink wine... I scraped off all the old glue and painted it black...

Then sprayed it with oilrubbed bronze and dry brushed antique copper and bright copper.... I think it came out pretty... Its going on the sun wall if you remember by the front door..  I'll show you when installed.. :)

Thats all my T people ... Another week closer to Thanksgiving... We are having company staying with us so i've been cleaning like a crazy woman and trying to finish up some projects that are within reach of being finished... installing some doorstops behind doors... staining another window sill and installing some more baseboard.. I still have hopes of hanging the family portraits before company comes... I'm staining the shelf and pole that goes in the hall closet so maybe i can get the coats off the guest bed... that would be good huh? lol... Take care and thank you Ms. Elizabeth and Bleubeard for another wonderful week of visiting.... Hugs! deb

An Ode to Flannel,Warm Coffee and a Good Book......

..... after 4 miserable days in the 80'sF we are back down to 'flannel weather'...' warm fuzzy slipper weather'..' chilli in the crockpot weather'.... 'honey did you turn on the electric blanket weather'...

..on the warmest days i busied myself in the craftroom on the lower level.. its cooler down there... i refused to turn the air condition on in November!!!  These are a part of the ceramics hubby and i poured years ago.. I nearly forgot about them and why i poured them...

.... here you can see the beginning of the dry brushing... I have a collection of eggs that i display in my curio cabinet.....

... here is the next step in the dry brushing.....
They've only just laid in there... i never really managed to get enough holders to hold them upright...which is the way i'd rather display them..

.... We may have been warm the last several days but i think the bugs knew that change was on the horizon ... We've been bombarded with wasps and bees and spiders and ladybugs all hunting a warm spot for the winter... Most of those are not welcome to spend winter with me but i think this cute little ladybug could stay....
Ladybug,ladybug fly away home
Your house is on fire and
Your children are all gone
All except for Anne
Who crept under the pudding pan...
Isn't that how it goes?? I think some people say Ladybird instead of Ladybug... I saw an article on the internet saying that it depends where in the US you grew up as to which you call it... lol

If you look close you might be able to tell that i dry brushed some gold along the top edge too... I'm not sure if the photo does it justice.. you could try clicking on it to enlarge but it looks rather nice in person i think....

Here's another view of the finished ones... I have some more holders to make and once i get them all on their shelves i'll show you how that looks...

Here's a  little something from the sketchbook... I wasn't paying attention to what i was doing though... I thought to make the stars reflect in the water but forgot about the moon or the bridge.... oh well... its just a sketchbook... I'm not very happy with my 'splatter technique ' either... It always makes me nervous to do that... i like more control.. lol

Well lovely ladies i daresay that about all for this week...  I'm in heaven with the cooler weather and even a little misty rain... Hunting season is in full swing and the deer have become scarce... can't say i blame them... They've changed their schedule as to when they come by the house... now its after dark or in the wee hours of the morning.. when i'm usually too lazy to get my butt out of bed... Take care all my Tparty people and friends that stop by... I'll be around to visit you... Hugs! deb

peTer, peTer pumpkin eaTer.......

Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater
Had a wife and couldn't keep her,
He put her in a pumpkin shell
and there he kept her very well.....

.... and then he decided to join us for tea

....can't quite make up his mind....

But finally.....

He decided to visit with us for tea.... I think maybe i need a trough... lol
If the deer aren't your 'cup of tea' I did finish a projecT...

I found this at the same auction i found that old mirror if you remember.... I paid a little more for it than i wanted ($15) but some other lady wanted it and we went back and forth... grrrrr..

I liked the color of the outer rim so i covered it with painter's tape but the inside color was not my cup of tea so i painted it satin black.....

See how the outer rim looked like wood? I didn't want to lose that...

I like black and wood grain together.........   Well that's all for my week T party people... We had a cold spell but now we're getting ready to warm up again in the 70's.. maybe a little rain expected...  I'm painting some trim and working on a few projects to get ready for company for Thanksgiving.. oy vey... I'll be around to visit!!! Big big hugs! deb

PS.  Ms. Elizabeth i did receive a PostCard from Krisha a few weeks ago but thats all... as far as i know all is good...

I Hardly Know Where to begin.........

Fall has come...... and finally routed out our Indian Summer... Just something wrong about breaking a sweat in October... This is my Dogwood tree in all her glory... buds already set for next Spring...

Click to enlarge and you can see the tree we lost back behind hubby's shop.... A storm front blew in around midnight night before last... I could hear the wind howling before it even arrived..  I stood in the dark listening to it blow in... (hubby was snoring) and i heard a loud 'CRACK' and thump... just thankful it wasn't near the house...

My friend Eileen was surprised that i planned on displaying some of our PostCard swaps on the walls in my house..   I just love them and they inspire me and i want others to see them and not just me..  So i took my favorites off the cork board in the craftroom and displayed them by the front door..  Gorgeous no ? There are some from Krisha and Violet and Valerie too.. My thumbtacks were shiny silver and i spray painted them bronze with a kiss of copper.. I thought that looked somehow classier... lol

Progress on Hubby's painting.... I worry about messing it up but i just grit my teeth and try to be brave.......

Craft shows were in full force around here this past weekend.... For the past three years we have gone to the War Eagle Craft Show which is just a few miles down the road from us...

It was a lovely Fall day but Lordy i've never seen the like of people.. Its a 4 day event and we always go on the first day .. first thing in the morning... our rationale is that it won't be so busy then... WRONG... lol It was wall to wall people from the get go.. Honestly took away from some of the enjoyment but what can you do... either go or don't go.. right?

Above we are walking across the War Eagle bridge... a very old , picturesque bridge... Theres a craft show on both sides of the bridge..I can't say i saw anything new... alot of the vendors are very similar.. The prices are high for my pocketbook... A bag of kettlecorn popcorn was $8.(thats a sweet/salty snack) thats high to me.. I enjoyed seeing the pottery... i drooled over the coffee mugs but won't pay $20 for a coffee mug...just can't make myself do it.. But i enjoyed being surrounded by all that creativity... just made my Muse sssiiiiinnggg!! lol

And this little guy was so cute in his sunglasses i had to take a picture.... He didn't seem to mind wearing them at all...

And for all my Tea People visiting from Ms. Elizabeth's and Bleubeard's I have tea in my cup up in the header... I have a family member that loves to send me different varieties of tea... I don't go for the fruity ones but i do love anything along the line of Chai ... and this was very good... The cool evenings now make me want to wrap my hands around a cup of tea....I hope you've had a wonderful week... I can't wait to come see what you've been up to! Hugs! deb
