T sTands for One sTrange Day......

Good Morning !!!! To everyone visiting from Ms Elizabeth's Tparty and beyond....... (lol)  THIS is what this post was suppose to be about... Above you see my messy creative space...my poor roll top desk may never recover.......

.....you know how i said i  was going to use up all my bits and bobs that i've saved making PostCards this year? Well the other day i sat down to do something at my desk and i was just overwhelmingly tired of looking at them and i needed to do something drastic.....

You must know by now that abstract is so NOT my thing... I'm a color in the lines kinda gal.... Sometimes i wish i wasn't  but there it is... I'd like to be 'looser' , 'freer'...... but its really difficult for me to 'let go'... So this was an exercise in that.....

I used a used file folder... and just picked from the top of the pile and glued it down somewhere... tried not to think about it... i found it really difficult to not manipulate the outcome...

But i persevered .......... dipped the edges in gold paint..........

Even had enough left over for a couple book marks.... the ribbon tried to unravel on me so i dipped the edges in gold paint too... Does anybody else still use bookmarks these days... ?

....and before we leave the ArtWorld behind for stranger tides ... do you remember the above little guy???? I came across him again while doing a little unpacking.... He won a blue ribbon several years ago at the stock show and rodeo...... Reminds me i want to make more......... :)

Now that could very easily make up  my T day post....More than enough for everyone to read... but just the other day i had a very 'odd' day... 'strange' day.....'different' day... i really didn't know what kind of day to call it other than ' not a 'normal deb day'...lol And it all began with the above chair... As you might guess we are still helping our neighbors....... they have things that will no longer fit into their new downsized abode.... And they are having a difficult time letting go of somethings... memories you know... But the above chair is one of the things they have let go... Hubby and i said we would take it to 'Salvation Army', 'GoodWill'... 'Habitat for Humanity' .....one of those... well because of its 'much loved' state no one wanted it... although i do believe its a 1930 chair....We also had an antique light they were parting with (no photo)...

So we left home and headed for the recycle center.. our first stop was to do our recycling.... The neighbors had given us a whole big stack of 18 count styrofoam egg cartons to recycle... He prefers the 12 count...(he raises chickens and sells the eggs)So we go to drop them off and guess what hubby finds...? A whole huge stack of 12 count someone had dropped off... OOOoooooOOO spooky.....Then a lady spied the antique light in the back seat and fell in love with it.... so the light found a new home....  Then i go poking around in the glass bins... I'm always on the look out for little blue bottles...I have always wanted a bottle tree.... I've been told that that is sooooooo 'red neck'!!!   lol but i don't care i want one.... Well along with  a couple bottles i found these glass shards... aren't they amazing??!!  If i can figure out how to do it i can totally see a wind chime out of those....I'd never seen anything like that at the recycle center before...so  odd......

From there we headed to Lowe's to pick up some supplies (our new countertops)  but stopped at Chilis to eat ... We were about halfway thru our lunch when an older gentleman... with white hair and a beard in a wheelchair moved into the table next to us.... He took out a velvet sack with a drawstring and pulled out of that a crystal skull.... a crystal skull....and set it on the table .. about the size of a cantaloupe... then proceeded to pull out a notebook and pen and he wrote about three pages of something while we were there.... My imagination wonders if he was some kind of famous writer i don't know and that was just his routine... Being the quiet, shy person i'am i would have been content just walking past him on our way out... but my gregarious husband struck up a conversation about the skull...lol ... saying ... ' I like your friend'... Hubby's like that... he can strike up a conversation with anyone.. and two minutes later you'd swear they were old friends... i envy him that... The man didn't seem to mind the intrusion and the conversation went on about how the skull doesn't eat much...etc... but never really revealed what it was all about... Now wasn't that 'odd'....

Finally on to Lowe's... Now that chair is still in the trailer since no one would take it.... and we are parked out front loading our countertops... this man .. probably in his 50's  is walking up to the store and as he comes abreast of our trailer he slows down and stops ... looking at that chair with the most... ' i can't believe it' look on his face... and just stares at it for a minute... reaches out to touch it... His much younger wife  (but not young enough to be a daughter i don't think ) stands there with a patient look on her face...  My husband chimes up that the chair was looking for a home.... still the guy is silent... finally he says in this amazed voice... i haven't seen that chair since i was a little kid.. My grandmother had one.... I can remember running my fingers over the stitching on that saddle... And i have never seen another one since... For quite a few minutes he was lost to memory.... The look on the wifes face was 'Theres no way thats coming home with us..' lol ... and eventually they wandered away...But i could tell we gave that man back a beautiful memory.....

Well thats it... thats my strange day..........Maybe you wouldn't think it very odd.... but it was out of my norm...lol I do apologize for such a long post for the T party.... I know we have alot of friends to visit....But i so wanted to share my different day with you...over T...  I'll be seeing you soon!!!  Hugs! deb

T Stands for Overwhelmed.........

Hello all my wonderful T ladies and everyone who comes to visit..I'm so glad to see you... Wheeewww... its good to take a breather and sit down with you...  Life has been so busy... When you have long term construction on a house you find that the work waxes and wanes like the moon... You work and work and work and sometimes you don't seem to get too far... then WHAM! you have a bunch of things come together and you take a leap forward...

Well we are right on the cusp of that happening.... The walls in the craftroom are nearing completion.. and i mean COMPLETION... I'am putting the finishing touches on the sanding  as we speak... The kitchen is getting painted in prep for the cabinets...Hubs has been hanging sheetrock and then working down the neighbor's house.... still.....and summer's here so there's yard work to take care of... like i said..life is busy.. Probably just like yours..... :)

As you can see above though... Art always finds a way into my life... Its necessary...  Above is a PostCard i just finished for our fellow T partier Eileen... The base is cereal box... the half circle is cut from a paper bag... the sunflower is from a paint brochure, the leaf is texture paste thru a stencil... the butterflies Eileen sent to me herself! Now i'm sending them back...  :)

Eileen sent me a PostCard of her own!  This is a magazine image she painted over...and used liquid applique...  she made sure i looked close at the book.. its a Stephen King book ....lol ... a woman after my own heart... :) How do you like my PostCard holder?  Its a little wooden piece that came out of some packaging from something we bought... I don't remember what........But it had just the perfect little slit in it.. Score!

Doodling in my SketchBook....
So.... my wonderful Tea People... while my Craftroom and Kitchen collide i may be a little scarce around here... If you don't see a post from me for a while don't worry! It just means things have gotten CRAZY!..  lol  and in this case thats a good thing. It means things are happening!  I'am bound and determined to be unpacking the craftroom boxes by my birthday... the third week in June....Lend me some of your energy for this final push won't you?? I'm wearing down.....  Big Hugs to everyone... especially you Ms. Elizabeth for hosting such a wonderful get together... See you all soon!!! Hugs! deb

Mother's Day 'Gift'

Shhhhh..... don't scare them.... (whispering) ... goodmorning my tea people....now if your quiet.... and be real still and enlarge these two photos you might just see a pair of twin fawns that are maybe 8 hours old......

......i stepped out on my back deck this morning to put out some birdseed when i see these two sweeties coming up out of the hollow behind our house... momma was  already at the road... she tried to encourage them to cross the road but they were having nothing for it and walked along it instead eventually coming up into our front yard where little did i know it but hubby took some photos... (no way was i leaving to get the camera  lol)  that makes 3 fawns in two days... yesterday we roll over in bed and look out the window into a foggy morning and there was another momma and her hours old , barely able to walk fawn was trying to keep up with her... such a precious moment.... these moments i will treasure...

Remember the work in progress PostCard ....?

Here's the finished PostCard..... I tried and tried to get a nice photo of it and man! it did NOT want to photo well... finally i gave up and this is the best one...lol

I've had my nose in a book of late.... 'The Original Illustrated Sherlock Holmes ' Huge Sherlock fan here... The illustrations are by Sidney Paget and ofcourse the stories are by Arthur Conan Doyle... Above is a tea picture for my tea partiers... :)

The book contains 12 short stories that first appeared in The Strand Magazine ...under the title of the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes between 1891 and 1892   also  12 stories under the title The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes between 1892 and 1893  AND 13 stories written under the title of The Return of Sherlock Holmes  along with the novel... ' The Hound of the Baskervilles' published in the Strand between 1901 and 1902  ....  Readers would line up outside the magazine's offices waiting for each installment... I've been managing to read a story a night and now i'am deep into the Hound of the Baskervilles....  I'm enjoying this one because Watson is front and center of the story for a nice change of pace...

I hope everyone had a lovely week.... and if you celebrate you had a wonderful Mother's Day...... Keep a weather eye out for me come Tuesday... I'll be around to visit!! Hugs! deb

T Stands for Picture Heavy Post......

Happy Happy T Day everyone!!! We made it!! Another T Tuesday!  How are you?? Did you have a good week?? I hope so! Its been crazy busy... Remember all that rain from last week?? Well who knew.. rain makes grass grow... no really it does...lol Whew!  But ofcourse i've had time to sketch and color... She is done in Prismacolor and smoothed with Gamsol........One of these days i need to take the time and sit down and watch a few videos on how to actually draw a face... I know there are 'rules' to follow.. but for now i'm just having fun figuring it out on my own...she's a little wonky.... but  she's just another face on my journey...

My friend and fellow T partier Eileen has been a busy girl and she sent me these gorgeous PostCards! Gosh i just love that butterfly...

And this one goes to show you just have to keep your eye out for cute little images to use in arts and crafts... The kitty she found on a tissue box.... ! Thank you so much Eileen! You sure do brighten my day!

I've had a few people question the fawn status around here... Well this is where we stand.... A whole bunch of some seriously pregnant does...lol .... Look at those bellies!!!

Some of them are so heavy they look about to burst...  This one above MUST be having twins...lol

Speaking of twins... does anyone remember last years twins?? I was too lazy to dig out a photo of them when they were little... But the above photo i took earlier this evening.. Thats mom... pregnant ..again... and the twins that are now yearlings...  This is the same mom who took in that orphan fawn last year... remember... I'm happy to say the orphan is doing well and made it through the winter..And he still often hangs out with these three..  The twins are old enough that i can tell one is a boy and one a girl... the boy has his little nubby horns starting to grow in ... I wonder if she will have twins again this year?  Once she has the new fawn(s) these yearlings will begin to wander away from her..... but i have also seen them stay around and help babysit too...

I do apologize for such a long post.... If your up for it  continue on for a House Update.... Above is the last picture i showed you of the Craftroom.........

Theres been alot of this going on in there... Sanding , mudding...etc... And theres my waterbottle for Ms. Elizabeth! I drink some and pour some in my mud to help the consistency..

Above is the updated picture taken a day or two ago... I hesitated to show you because you almost really can't tell that anythings been done.. but trust me... there has... I have just a little more ceiling to skim coat then i can give it all  a light sanding then its time to paint!!! Paint Party!!! ... My goal is to be unpacking crafty boxes by my birthday the third week of June....As long as nothing comes up i think i can make it...... Cross your fingers , toes and eyeballs!!

Now while i've been burying my head in the craftroom... Hubby has decided to tackle the laundry room/ downstairs 1/2 bath... Above is what it looked like after he tore out the remaining old sheetrock...Oy vey......

Now LOOK! I have walls!!!

A sink and counter top will go over there along with a pole...

And theres my washer and dryer that survived the trip from CA..  As you can see lots of taping and floating and mudding still need to happen in there...  But that room will feel so tiny to do after the massive craftroom!! lol  want to have a shelf or maybe two shelves above the washer and dryer..

He still has more sheetrock to install and the air cond/heating vents need to get insulated...  but boy we're doing good... Just wish there was more of us to go around... Kitchen cabinets coming June 1st...So we have to get the kitchen painted before then...  Well i'm so glad you all came to visit... I just love our weekly get togethers...  i'll be around to visit!! Big Hugs!! deb
