T stands for crafTroom, fawn and a bush......

Hi Everybody!!!!!  The picture in the header serves as my coffee for 'T' !!  The painting was done by my mother in law back in the 80's... i just love it... the play of light and dark just speaks to me...

Well at the beginning of the week there was alot of THIS!! and trips to the recycle center... But all of this has turned into the below...

Lets take a spin around the Craftroom... As you walk in the room the sink is on your right.. I stained the boards that you see on that little wall and the board that goes across the sink and sprayed the cast iron sink  that oil rubbed bronze... Jinx has already had a bath and he highly approves... I approve because i no longer have to kneel beside a tub to give him a bath.. :)

Lets just take a turn around the room....

Above is the door that goes on the closet with the hot water heater.. I'm patching and painting it... Hope to replace it one day with another 6 panel door like the rest of the house but thats down the road....

Continuing on around... thats the exit to outside door...

....and on around......still alot of picking up and putting away...

Hubs has made the window sills and the boards to go on that ledge under the windows...now i need to stain them......uugghh...

My corkboard is up on the wall ... the TV will soon follow..

These are the legs for the island... Look familiar??  They should .. they came out of the old kitchen ... repurpose/reuse... my motto... lol  They will be sanded some and painted that oilrubbed bronze..

Finally we've had a fawn in the yard this week... Its like we see them shortly after birth because they like to give birth in our hollow apparently but then don't bring them around for a month or two..

When its hot they go around with their mouths open alot.. The other deer can get rough so momma stays off by herself for awhile..  I know .. i know .. the state of my grass is horrid... But i live in the boonies...not in town and hubs and i decided with everything else going on we were gonna mow once a month this summer... so ya gotta give me until next weekend..lol

This is one of the twins from last year... i'm pretty sure... they all look alike...lol.. but look! he's getting his first set of nubbies!!! (horns)

And finally  i HAD to show you my bush... This is an Abelia and it is covered in blooms and bees and butterflies and hummingbirds... and it smells heavenly!!! It gets mostly morning sun and is shaded mostly from the hot afternoon sun... The deer have it eaten from the bottom but it continues to thrive.. I just love it.. So if any of those characteristics appeals to you i highly recommend it.. I give it no supplemental water... nor do i mulch it in winter... Just hasn't been time for that.. and it seems to thrive on my neglect... Happy happy T day everyone visiting from Ms Elizabeth's and Bleubeards....So glad to see everyone!!! Hugs! deb

T stands for SummerTime SummerTime....

Happy T day everybody!!! I looked out my window the other day and what a photo op! A deer, squirrels and if you look close on the bird feeder there are a couple woodpeckers up there... all close enough to each other to fit in one photo.. :)

This is what was on the feeder... A red bellied woodpecker feeding its young.. I had never seen that before... so cool...

We are two and two with the watermelons this year... lol  We picked two good ones and two not so good ones...  but the animals are in heaven with the leftovers...lol

It may not be pretty but the squirrels have been successfully thwarted from getting in the feeder... but that doesn't stop them from occasionally trying... thats a metal pole and they will still try to chew on it.. We had 12 in our yard at once the other day... About another month and they will all disappear...poof... The pinecones will ripen and they will be eating and collecting them up for winter and we will hardly see a squirrel for months... then sometime in the Fall they will pop back in......

This little guy is a chipmunk... he's a recent addition to the menagerie that visit...

A few turtles have been showing up in the yard.. coming up from the lake... not sure what they find so desirable in my yard... i worry about them crossing the road...  Hubby and i had a laugh at the thought of attaching a gps to each one to see where they go...lol

A handful of deer come by to eat when i put food out... shoot they come by anyway HOPING i'll put food out...lol They haven't brought the fawns around yet... They usually don't until they are a few months old... Other deer can be kind of rough so they keep them off to themselves for awhile...

Above is my birthday present from hubby... Ancestry DNA test!! I have been wanting to do this forever!!If your interested i'll post the results... They say 6-8 weeks for the results.. I'm so curious! I've been told on one side of my family is German, Swedish and Dutch and on the other side all i know is the story that we have a drop of Indian blood  Lenni Lenape Delaware Indian... but I know nothing else... Has anyone else done this??

I do apologize for recycling a tea picture.... I didn't have one handy when i decided to do this post...  But i like this one... i enjoy fiddling with vignettes ... with color and light.. I hope to get back to that one day.. I hope you've had a good week my T people.. I'm so glad to have you visit... Big hugs! deb

T Stands for a Post of Few Words.....

Good Morning my Tea People and everyone who pops in for a visit... I want to catch you up but things are crazy busy... working on the details of the craftroom finish and hubby still helping the neighbor and sister in laws hot water heater needing replacing and ... and... lol   BUT theres been time for art... and coffee... so life can't be bad... right??!!!  :)

.........and i ask you.....Is there anything sweeter than a shoebox full of love in the mail...??? From a dear friend for my birthday coming soon....

.......trying to keep this short and sweet this week but i thought you might like a peek.... Look at all that wonderful counter space!!!

And oh my goodness... is that some shelves in place???? And thats where the sink will go... an access panel will go where you see that hole....

Another view... the baseboard is in place... you can barely see it... that long wall there is where the shelving units will go...

And here we are to what i'am currently working on.... We should have been better at covering up the floor as we worked... So instead i'am sitting on my butt , scooting across the floor scraping and sanding off .. mud, paint etc... Its a little tedious, and i know the floor will just get messed up from what ever i 'am working on but i wanted to start out with it looking nice at least... lol So , you know what i'm doing... what have you been up to??? Hugs! deb

T Stands for new kiTchen.......

GoodMorning my Tea People and GoodMorning to everyone who pops in for a visit........Before i reveal the new kitchen you can go Here and see what the kitchen looked like Before.....

We ordered these thru Lowe's and no we were not paid to say that.. But after going to both the big orange box and Lowe's we settled on Lowe's . We were very fortunate to find John in the kitchen cabinet department... It seemed to us that several employees at both big box stores seemed to lose interest in helping us when they realized we weren't purchasing 'top of the line' cabinets( maybe that was a misconception ) ... But John helped us wonderfully... He had tons of patience with two people who had never had a new kitchen installed before... He patiently helped us figure out what we could afford and designed our kitchen on the computer...All very friendly and professional and it didn't hurt that every time i saw him he reminded me of Dobby the House Elf from Harry Potter.... i have never seen a person look more like an animated character before in my life... I so wish it would have been appropriate to show you a picture of him.......And as i said the review of Lowe's is not compensated in anyway and my opinion is my own..........

Ta Daaaaaa!!!!

I still have lots to do.... Lots of unpacking... kitchen items i haven't seen in how long?  More than a year... i may have missed a few items but honestly i may cull a few things as i put them away.... If i haven't used it in forever its going away...

Now theres still some details to be done... We were short two filler plates and some scribe or trim and we get to the end of the install and realize we are a door short...we call the company (KraftMaid)and learn 'oh its on back order'.... would have been nice for someone to point that out for us beforehand... but anyway.. it all worked out and infact the door just arrived by UPS yesterday... so all good...

Lowe's did not do the install for us........ Their install was just beyond what we could afford....You know through out this whole house remodel the cost of labor really struck us the most... Thank goodness we were able to do most things ourselves or we never could have afforded it... Some companies we looked at to rewire the house wanted $20,000 plus to do it.... and the cost of supplies is only like $500... AND if you remember all the sheetrock was out of the walls ... they had easy access to everything... and they still wanted that much... Anyway we are getting away from the kitchen.. We found , at our neighbor's recommendation, a wonderful guy to install our cabinets at a reasonable price and we were so happy with his work we were able to tip him...and we hope to have him back to do more around the house... If you look at the above pic you can tell we forgot to leave a place for the trash can.... now what do i do with it???  And we will get an over the range microwave but for now this will work...

Since Lowe's didn't do the install we measured the kitchen ourselves..... um...yeah...... We were this much off.... But don't fret... I'm trying not to fret...I have a beautiful idea to take care of this but it requires the use of my craftroom.... Still working on the primer on the walls.. but hey at least we're painting... I worked on that while hubby helped the kitchen install guy... You know.. alot of times you don't need someone to install something FOR you .... you need someone who knows what they are doing to install it WITH you.... Hubs said he learned alot and he thinks maybe we could have installed it ourselves but instead of 2 days it might have taken us 6 weeks...lol :)

So this morning the install is behind us.... the unpacking and figuring out where to put everything is ahead of me .... The grass is green... the deer are fat and happy...the birds are singing in my little corner of the world... and my heart goes out to the people of London.....the atrocities happening there could very easily happen where i call home..... its becoming a very scary world indeed...

Ms. Elizabeth we are drinking with the hummingbirds this morning.  They have a new feeder.........And if you look close in some of the photos you will see cups and water bottles lying around galore...lol Big Hugs to you all . Stay safe and i'll be around to visit! Happy happy T day! deb

Pssst.... if anyone knows the name of the flower in the header.. i'd love to know... I took that photo in CA . Isn't it just gorgeous???

I thought.........

...........you might like a little reminder of what the kitchen looked like before this all began...... We already took a few of those poles down in the above picture.. but you get the idea.....very... 70's i'd say... the house was built in 1974... all the houses in the immediate surrounding area were built '74- '75 ...

Slowly over the last ..oh.. six months the old cabinets have found their way over to the neighbors house they had built.... they REALLY love that style of cabinetry...

Finally the last couple days i just had the sink section....

Then we had 20+ boxes of cabinets being delivered.... and had to make room for them...

Pushed everything out of the way... made sure we had access to the essentials ..... namely ... microwave, laptop, and coffee pot...lol  Come back by Mon/Tues and i'll reveal the kitchen.... Woohoo!!! Hubby is hooking up the sink as we speak!!! Hugs! deb

T sTands for One sTrange Day......

Good Morning !!!! To everyone visiting from Ms Elizabeth's Tparty and beyond....... (lol)  THIS is what this post was suppose to be about... Above you see my messy creative space...my poor roll top desk may never recover.......

.....you know how i said i  was going to use up all my bits and bobs that i've saved making PostCards this year? Well the other day i sat down to do something at my desk and i was just overwhelmingly tired of looking at them and i needed to do something drastic.....

You must know by now that abstract is so NOT my thing... I'm a color in the lines kinda gal.... Sometimes i wish i wasn't  but there it is... I'd like to be 'looser' , 'freer'...... but its really difficult for me to 'let go'... So this was an exercise in that.....

I used a used file folder... and just picked from the top of the pile and glued it down somewhere... tried not to think about it... i found it really difficult to not manipulate the outcome...

But i persevered .......... dipped the edges in gold paint..........

Even had enough left over for a couple book marks.... the ribbon tried to unravel on me so i dipped the edges in gold paint too... Does anybody else still use bookmarks these days... ?

....and before we leave the ArtWorld behind for stranger tides ... do you remember the above little guy???? I came across him again while doing a little unpacking.... He won a blue ribbon several years ago at the stock show and rodeo...... Reminds me i want to make more......... :)

Now that could very easily make up  my T day post....More than enough for everyone to read... but just the other day i had a very 'odd' day... 'strange' day.....'different' day... i really didn't know what kind of day to call it other than ' not a 'normal deb day'...lol And it all began with the above chair... As you might guess we are still helping our neighbors....... they have things that will no longer fit into their new downsized abode.... And they are having a difficult time letting go of somethings... memories you know... But the above chair is one of the things they have let go... Hubby and i said we would take it to 'Salvation Army', 'GoodWill'... 'Habitat for Humanity' .....one of those... well because of its 'much loved' state no one wanted it... although i do believe its a 1930 chair....We also had an antique light they were parting with (no photo)...

So we left home and headed for the recycle center.. our first stop was to do our recycling.... The neighbors had given us a whole big stack of 18 count styrofoam egg cartons to recycle... He prefers the 12 count...(he raises chickens and sells the eggs)So we go to drop them off and guess what hubby finds...? A whole huge stack of 12 count someone had dropped off... OOOoooooOOO spooky.....Then a lady spied the antique light in the back seat and fell in love with it.... so the light found a new home....  Then i go poking around in the glass bins... I'm always on the look out for little blue bottles...I have always wanted a bottle tree.... I've been told that that is sooooooo 'red neck'!!!   lol but i don't care i want one.... Well along with  a couple bottles i found these glass shards... aren't they amazing??!!  If i can figure out how to do it i can totally see a wind chime out of those....I'd never seen anything like that at the recycle center before...so  odd......

From there we headed to Lowe's to pick up some supplies (our new countertops)  but stopped at Chilis to eat ... We were about halfway thru our lunch when an older gentleman... with white hair and a beard in a wheelchair moved into the table next to us.... He took out a velvet sack with a drawstring and pulled out of that a crystal skull.... a crystal skull....and set it on the table .. about the size of a cantaloupe... then proceeded to pull out a notebook and pen and he wrote about three pages of something while we were there.... My imagination wonders if he was some kind of famous writer i don't know and that was just his routine... Being the quiet, shy person i'am i would have been content just walking past him on our way out... but my gregarious husband struck up a conversation about the skull...lol ... saying ... ' I like your friend'... Hubby's like that... he can strike up a conversation with anyone.. and two minutes later you'd swear they were old friends... i envy him that... The man didn't seem to mind the intrusion and the conversation went on about how the skull doesn't eat much...etc... but never really revealed what it was all about... Now wasn't that 'odd'....

Finally on to Lowe's... Now that chair is still in the trailer since no one would take it.... and we are parked out front loading our countertops... this man .. probably in his 50's  is walking up to the store and as he comes abreast of our trailer he slows down and stops ... looking at that chair with the most... ' i can't believe it' look on his face... and just stares at it for a minute... reaches out to touch it... His much younger wife  (but not young enough to be a daughter i don't think ) stands there with a patient look on her face...  My husband chimes up that the chair was looking for a home.... still the guy is silent... finally he says in this amazed voice... i haven't seen that chair since i was a little kid.. My grandmother had one.... I can remember running my fingers over the stitching on that saddle... And i have never seen another one since... For quite a few minutes he was lost to memory.... The look on the wifes face was 'Theres no way thats coming home with us..' lol ... and eventually they wandered away...But i could tell we gave that man back a beautiful memory.....

Well thats it... thats my strange day..........Maybe you wouldn't think it very odd.... but it was out of my norm...lol I do apologize for such a long post for the T party.... I know we have alot of friends to visit....But i so wanted to share my different day with you...over T...  I'll be seeing you soon!!!  Hugs! deb
