T Stands for Overwhelmed.........

Hello all my wonderful T ladies and everyone who comes to visit..I'm so glad to see you... Wheeewww... its good to take a breather and sit down with you...  Life has been so busy... When you have long term construction on a house you find that the work waxes and wanes like the moon... You work and work and work and sometimes you don't seem to get too far... then WHAM! you have a bunch of things come together and you take a leap forward...

Well we are right on the cusp of that happening.... The walls in the craftroom are nearing completion.. and i mean COMPLETION... I'am putting the finishing touches on the sanding  as we speak... The kitchen is getting painted in prep for the cabinets...Hubs has been hanging sheetrock and then working down the neighbor's house.... still.....and summer's here so there's yard work to take care of... like i said..life is busy.. Probably just like yours..... :)

As you can see above though... Art always finds a way into my life... Its necessary...  Above is a PostCard i just finished for our fellow T partier Eileen... The base is cereal box... the half circle is cut from a paper bag... the sunflower is from a paint brochure, the leaf is texture paste thru a stencil... the butterflies Eileen sent to me herself! Now i'm sending them back...  :)

Eileen sent me a PostCard of her own!  This is a magazine image she painted over...and used liquid applique...  she made sure i looked close at the book.. its a Stephen King book ....lol ... a woman after my own heart... :) How do you like my PostCard holder?  Its a little wooden piece that came out of some packaging from something we bought... I don't remember what........But it had just the perfect little slit in it.. Score!

Doodling in my SketchBook....
So.... my wonderful Tea People... while my Craftroom and Kitchen collide i may be a little scarce around here... If you don't see a post from me for a while don't worry! It just means things have gotten CRAZY!..  lol  and in this case thats a good thing. It means things are happening!  I'am bound and determined to be unpacking the craftroom boxes by my birthday... the third week in June....Lend me some of your energy for this final push won't you?? I'm wearing down.....  Big Hugs to everyone... especially you Ms. Elizabeth for hosting such a wonderful get together... See you all soon!!! Hugs! deb

Mother's Day 'Gift'

Shhhhh..... don't scare them.... (whispering) ... goodmorning my tea people....now if your quiet.... and be real still and enlarge these two photos you might just see a pair of twin fawns that are maybe 8 hours old......

......i stepped out on my back deck this morning to put out some birdseed when i see these two sweeties coming up out of the hollow behind our house... momma was  already at the road... she tried to encourage them to cross the road but they were having nothing for it and walked along it instead eventually coming up into our front yard where little did i know it but hubby took some photos... (no way was i leaving to get the camera  lol)  that makes 3 fawns in two days... yesterday we roll over in bed and look out the window into a foggy morning and there was another momma and her hours old , barely able to walk fawn was trying to keep up with her... such a precious moment.... these moments i will treasure...

Remember the work in progress PostCard ....?

Here's the finished PostCard..... I tried and tried to get a nice photo of it and man! it did NOT want to photo well... finally i gave up and this is the best one...lol

I've had my nose in a book of late.... 'The Original Illustrated Sherlock Holmes ' Huge Sherlock fan here... The illustrations are by Sidney Paget and ofcourse the stories are by Arthur Conan Doyle... Above is a tea picture for my tea partiers... :)

The book contains 12 short stories that first appeared in The Strand Magazine ...under the title of the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes between 1891 and 1892   also  12 stories under the title The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes between 1892 and 1893  AND 13 stories written under the title of The Return of Sherlock Holmes  along with the novel... ' The Hound of the Baskervilles' published in the Strand between 1901 and 1902  ....  Readers would line up outside the magazine's offices waiting for each installment... I've been managing to read a story a night and now i'am deep into the Hound of the Baskervilles....  I'm enjoying this one because Watson is front and center of the story for a nice change of pace...

I hope everyone had a lovely week.... and if you celebrate you had a wonderful Mother's Day...... Keep a weather eye out for me come Tuesday... I'll be around to visit!! Hugs! deb

T Stands for Picture Heavy Post......

Happy Happy T Day everyone!!! We made it!! Another T Tuesday!  How are you?? Did you have a good week?? I hope so! Its been crazy busy... Remember all that rain from last week?? Well who knew.. rain makes grass grow... no really it does...lol Whew!  But ofcourse i've had time to sketch and color... She is done in Prismacolor and smoothed with Gamsol........One of these days i need to take the time and sit down and watch a few videos on how to actually draw a face... I know there are 'rules' to follow.. but for now i'm just having fun figuring it out on my own...she's a little wonky.... but  she's just another face on my journey...

My friend and fellow T partier Eileen has been a busy girl and she sent me these gorgeous PostCards! Gosh i just love that butterfly...

And this one goes to show you just have to keep your eye out for cute little images to use in arts and crafts... The kitty she found on a tissue box.... ! Thank you so much Eileen! You sure do brighten my day!

I've had a few people question the fawn status around here... Well this is where we stand.... A whole bunch of some seriously pregnant does...lol .... Look at those bellies!!!

Some of them are so heavy they look about to burst...  This one above MUST be having twins...lol

Speaking of twins... does anyone remember last years twins?? I was too lazy to dig out a photo of them when they were little... But the above photo i took earlier this evening.. Thats mom... pregnant ..again... and the twins that are now yearlings...  This is the same mom who took in that orphan fawn last year... remember... I'm happy to say the orphan is doing well and made it through the winter..And he still often hangs out with these three..  The twins are old enough that i can tell one is a boy and one a girl... the boy has his little nubby horns starting to grow in ... I wonder if she will have twins again this year?  Once she has the new fawn(s) these yearlings will begin to wander away from her..... but i have also seen them stay around and help babysit too...

I do apologize for such a long post.... If your up for it  continue on for a House Update.... Above is the last picture i showed you of the Craftroom.........

Theres been alot of this going on in there... Sanding , mudding...etc... And theres my waterbottle for Ms. Elizabeth! I drink some and pour some in my mud to help the consistency..

Above is the updated picture taken a day or two ago... I hesitated to show you because you almost really can't tell that anythings been done.. but trust me... there has... I have just a little more ceiling to skim coat then i can give it all  a light sanding then its time to paint!!! Paint Party!!! ... My goal is to be unpacking crafty boxes by my birthday the third week of June....As long as nothing comes up i think i can make it...... Cross your fingers , toes and eyeballs!!

Now while i've been burying my head in the craftroom... Hubby has decided to tackle the laundry room/ downstairs 1/2 bath... Above is what it looked like after he tore out the remaining old sheetrock...Oy vey......

Now LOOK! I have walls!!!

A sink and counter top will go over there along with a pole...

And theres my washer and dryer that survived the trip from CA..  As you can see lots of taping and floating and mudding still need to happen in there...  But that room will feel so tiny to do after the massive craftroom!! lol  want to have a shelf or maybe two shelves above the washer and dryer..

He still has more sheetrock to install and the air cond/heating vents need to get insulated...  but boy we're doing good... Just wish there was more of us to go around... Kitchen cabinets coming June 1st...So we have to get the kitchen painted before then...  Well i'm so glad you all came to visit... I just love our weekly get togethers...  i'll be around to visit!! Big Hugs!! deb

T Stands for Coloring, Origami, and a WIP.......

Hello all my T people!!! and everyone who comes to visit me! Its been a crazy week around here...RAIN ..OMGoodness rain.... and we didn't even catch the brunt of it.... I have no idea how many inches....But our Beaver Lake that was just last week a sad mud puddle is now over flowing its banks...only a few feet from topping the bridge that we cross to go into town....Wow! so ... yes rain ..glorious rain... I found some time to color my fawn in the above photo.... AND i finished a book ' Tick Tock ' by Dean Koontz... sometimes reading by flashlight when the power went out... and yes it was a spooky story......lol
When the power wasn't out one evening i tried my hand at this origami crane ...its a puff body crane..following instructions on YouTube... i've only ever made the flat body so that was fun... i get in an origami mood once in awhile... Its hard to find good instructions though but Jenny is wonderful...she goes slow and pauses and has good camera angles... I'll leave you the link.....and no Ms . Elizabeth... our wonderful host... that is not a new coffee cup... I've had it a few months now or longer and showed it a time or two... :)  Pssst... I almost forgot to tell you... i left the crane on the table at a restaurant ... i hope it made someone smile....

And here is a PostCard in progress.......  A family member saves me things...recycled things she thinks i might be able to use to make something..... Love it when friends and family think of me that way.. The little flower/leaf pattern came off a cardboard box that her drinks came in and she thought of me..  The butterfly and circles and dots are from magazine cutouts... Just having fun painting and trying to shade my colors...  Well thats about it for T this week... been mudding in the craftroom alot... Hubby is putting sheetrock up in the downstairs laundry room/ bathroom... progress.... OH! And we ordered the cabinets for the kitchen.... They will be in , in about 4-6 weeks...  Things are still moving in the right direction... Woohoo.... Happy happy T day!!! Hugs! deb

Pssst.... for anyone keeping track of such things... the first hummingbirds showed up at my house a couple days ago..... :)

T Stands for posTcards, skeTches, and a Crash and Burn........

GoodMorning all my T people!!! And everyone who comes to visit!  I'm still whittling away at all the bits and bobs i've collected.. cutting and clippings that i somehow thought would be great in a PostCard.   I have all these in a big pile on my desk... taking up room and i somehow never get to them.... no more!!! This is the year of using them up! So the above lizzard had been lurking on the desk for awhile..... I wish my handwriting had been better...darn...

Still on fawn watch around here.... I have yet to see one although our neighbors tell us they have seen one.... a strangely light colored one... almost white they say...  The dynamics around the house have changed somewhat from the previous two years...  The deer may no longer feel as safe coming here.... Our closest neighbors tore down all those trees to build their house and they are closer to us now and have 5 noisey dogs..um..yea.... and they have their property lit up like Ft. Knox...... plus another neighbor has bought up alot of property around us and has commenced cutting down alot of trees and clearing land...lots of bulldozing going on all day and saws... so... things have changed around here...but i've always heard said that change is the one thing you can count on...nothing ever stays the same...........I still see alot of pregnant does around so we'll see...

Above was just me fiddling in the sketch book.... i had an idea for a tree.... but afterwards i thought those leaves hanging down just looked out of place...but what to do about it..?  Those two peacocks are just me trying to salvage the drawing.... i added them and their blue tails hanging down and the decoration across the top to tie it all together ...and i kinda like it..... :)

And now for the crash and burn...........sigh... Did you ever have a thought or plan and it looks great in your head but in reality its just 'ugly'..... ?

I tried many different colors and worked it and worked it until i finally ended up with this black and gold... the quote on front was going to be 'The eyes are the window to the soul'....

Do any of you remember the above photo of the Afghan Girl published in National Geographic in 1985? It was taken by Steve McCurry.... I was a senior in high school when this first came out but i remember it.. I remember the way those eyes just reached out and grabbed you......My shot of it here doesn't do it justice . Well i recently inherited a HUGE stack of National Geographics from the recycle center and there she was...

They had gone back and found her 17 years later and photographed her again.. And i'm not convinced... they were not totally convinced they had found the right girl...  To me the eyes are vastly different... She's had a hard life... but can that change the swirls of color in her eyes?? So these magazine images were in with my bits and bobs for making PostCards but i didn't like the results..

But if you want to see a pretty PostCard... look no further than the one i received from Ms. Krisha!!! She had fun blowing paint around with a straw...!! Thank you Krisha.. I love it!!! The crash and burn PostCard was for you.... back to the drawing board... lol Thank you to everyone who stopped by to party.... I hope you had a fun time!  I'll be around to visit... Big Hugs! deb
