T Stands for Winter Wonderland.......

Last week Mother Nature reminded us that Winter was not quite over.... and if you've known me for any length of time at all you know that i was over the moon happy about it!! It was only an inch or two but what  a Wonderland it was... I dragged hubby out for a walk in it...AND we popped over to the neighbor's to declare a snowball fight war...I wish i had taken more photos... It was so much fun... Then we came inside and i made hubby hot chocolate...lol
See, i have been very fortunate in my experiences with snow... I have never had to be an 'adult' in snow... I spent alot of my childhood in the NJ, PA area and then three years in Germany in my early 20's... but i have never had to be the person that had to scrape off the car or dig the car out and drive to work in it... I've always just gotten to play in it.. I'm sure if i had to deal with it every year and go to work in it i would feel differently... But for me... snow makes me feel like a kid again.......

Today you wouldn't know it had just snowed last week... Today it is pushing 80 F and its muggy humid... a breeze blowing really saves the day but even so its on the uncomfortable side... Above is a PostCard i made for Krisha... Again using some of my stash of magazine clippings.. The flowers across the bottom were punched from a clipping of eyeshadow colors in a magazine.  The little gnome was stamped and i painted him with acrylics..I was surprised how well he came out..you know usually i use colored pencils...

And this is another PostCard i made... this one for Eileen... using magazine clippings... the girl i think is from an air freshener ad and the 'flowers' are eye shadow color palette ..the background and flower stems are acrylic paint.... the flowers have glittery Wink of Stella pen on them......

This is the back of the card.. using some stamps and washi tape around the edges......

In the middle of making this post i realized i didn't have a drink photo to share with my T people... so .... i thought i would take a little creative license and share with you 'another' tea party.. this one at my bird bath... Meet the 4 Brother's Grimm... You can tell by all the green that this was taken last year.. Shortly we will have been in this house for two years and 4 crows have always been with us.... only ever 4 ... at first i was worried they may bring their friends... there is such a thing as too many crows...lol  But these 4 show up a couple times a week and i always love to see them come... Yes they take over and eat everything in sight and scare all the smaller birds away but they visit infrequently and never stay long.. so i welcome their visit....they have become like old friends.. they are such smart birds and its can be difficult to get a photo so i was overjoyed to capture this one of all four of them together.. My Brother's Grimm....... ( on a side note.. you know i have never seen them take a bath just drink from the birdbath ) I hope it will serve as my drink photo this week... If you haven't yet be sure to stop by and visit Ms Elizabeth and Bleubeard's and join the T Party! Hugs! deb

T Stands for TimeTravel.............

Goodmorning everyone! Happy T day!! I thought i'd take you back in time to where all this began... 'this' being the craftroom...In May it will be 2 years since we began this whole house project...And where did we start tearing out? Yep the craftroom.. ofcourse then it was the garage... technically i guess it still is a garage..but all the sheetrock and insulation was tore out and replaced with upgraded insulation.. the concrete walls had a false wall added on them with insulation..... the garage doors were sealed and covered up with false walls and insulation... the water lines come in , in that corner and we ran all new plumbing... all new electrical........and here recently..........

I've been able to wipe all the dust off the walls....thats a chore in itself...

We've been putting paint on the walls and ceiling.....

So how about a peek????

We've actually been able to spend alot of time working in here... Keep in mind my craftroom is double the size of what your looking at and the other half is completely sheetrocked but still has to have the mud put on it and smoothed etc... But this half is where my workspace will be... All this is in preparation for countertop...

Speaking of counter top... We even got some of that installed...I wanted the back legs to blend into the wall... Hubby got to play with metal and his welder and wanted to make the front legs... I painted them the same oil rubbed bronze i used in the closet upstairs if you remember...
Its slow going... and i try not to think that i still have half a room to go.... but its progress and exciting and i'm over the moon!!

And ofcourse there's been drawing and coloring... I have no idea where the grapes came from.... i made that bunch coming off the side of the coffee cup and hubby mentioned they looked like grapes so i went with it... Originally it was just going to be circles and doodles and flowers..I'm in love with that sunflower....May need to draw more of those.... So happy T day to all my Tea People visiting from Ms. Elizabeth's and Bleubeard's ... They put on a wonderful T party every Tuesday .............AND if your not part of the Tparty gang I'm super glad you stopped by too...All i seem able to do these days is the Tparty post and i'm so glad you pop in to visit... Hugs! deb

T Stands for Taking you With Me.......

I colored in my cup drawing..Coffee First!

....Where am i taking you ? You might ask.... well first we are going to sit here and take a deep breath ... have a little tea or coffee or whatever you like and just breathe..... maybe look at a little art...

PostCard from Eileen

... I don't think i realized that once your hubby retires you rarely get a moment to yourself.... and you know you can love your hubby with your whole heart and soul and STILL miss that occasional time to yourself...

PostCard from Eileen

Well hubby has gone to town with the neighbor and i'am having one of those rare moments to myself and i decided to spend it with my fellow Tea partiers over there at Ms. Elizabeth's!

PostCard from Krisha

So now that you've had your spot of tea or coffee and are hopefully re-energized buckle up cause we are going on a road trip.... A little picture heavy post here so we'll keep commentary to a minimum.... aw come on i PROMISE....   :)

Arkansas scenery........ Sometimes you just need to get away for a day.... so we headed to Branson, MO.....

Lots of trees and rolling hills......

Look upper middle left..... trust me .. no Arkansas country side would be complete without a few of these.... chicken houses.. chicken is big business in Arkansas... When we were looking for a house we always did a satellite search to make sure we were far enough away from the chicken coops cause they STINK!

Found this interesting tree along the highway... once i saw one i started seeing them everywhere so whatever they are they are very common...

No leaves yet ofcourse but they were putting out these stalks of buds... i have no idea what the flower looks like... I did an internet search with no luck....

Lots of seedpods... I collected a few seeds to see if i can get it to grow.. I love blooming trees... If anyone has any idea what this is please clue me in... :)

A little flea marketing and antique shopping was to be had... but we didn't find a thing... well... we found a few things but they were more than we wanted to pay :(

I cannot tell a lie.... i did get lost in here for awhile... pretty bad when the closest Michaels is in a different state! I bought a gear stencil here.... many things found their way into the cart but only one made it through the checkout... do you do that... pick up things and talk yourself out of it before you hit the register??

On the way home someone was having a prescribed burn ... the parks dept i think .. anyway it was smoky and hazy all the way home... kinda pretty in some places...

We decided to take the back roads home.... thats fun to do sometimes... travel roads you've never been on...the gps makes it easy...  We came across this one lane bridge.. it looked ancient....

Look at those boards!  On the other side was the town of Beaver... It had a huge sign that said 'Welcome to Nostalgia ... where all the neighbors are friends'.... a little strange but kinda nice too..

We arrived back in our town just as the sun was setting... It was a long and a little disappointing trip .. Its a rare occassion for us to go flea marketing or estate saling and not find SOMETHING to get excited about... and then we stopped in Joe's Crab Shack for some seafood... we hadn't been in about 8 months and the prices had gone up and the quality and quantity of food had gone down... so a little bummer there... just not the best trip in the whole scheme of things... but i always love getting out of town with my honey... so thats the upside.. :)

If you managed to hang on this long how about a quick peek into the craftroom....  We purchased some more counter top!!!

The false wall on the other side of the room is going up swiftly and hubby is putting in my cast iron sink... It came with the house and being cast iron and in excellent shape i just had to keep it..The false walls will hide the concrete walls and the plumbing...Knock on wood the craftroom seems to be coming along in leaps and bounds at the moment... keep your fingers crossed it continues.... :)  Thanks so much for visiting so long... I know we have alot of Tea friends to visit so i try to keep it shorter... but i had so much to share this time.. Take care and i'll be around to visit soon!!! Hugs! deb

T stands for Two Households...........

GoodMorning my TeaPeople and everyone who pops by once a week to visit me.. Its a gloomy Sunday morning as i sit here typing this Tuesday post... I'm a little stiff and sore in places i haven't been for quite a while...We finished putting insulation in the ceiling of our neighbor's house yesterday and working over your head for a prolonged time is never fun...

At the same time we try to continue work on our house...... We are putting sheetrock on the ceiling of the OTHER half of the craftroom...(again working over our heads) Maybe you can tell we also created a false wall to hide the plumbing and the concrete walls... remember this used to be a garage... See that green pole....there are two of them ( the other is out of frame) Can you tell theres a piece of metal between them? Anway thats where my island will be....

As usual i still find time for art....Its my zen... Remember the mug drawings... Well here i pulled out my acrylic paints and had a play...I'm still learning how to manipulate the paints to get them to do what i want them to do... But i enjoy the learning process...It doesn't show up on camera so much but the shading on the mug i think is better in real life...
Backgrounds are always an after thought to me... That is sooo frustrating...So much easier to do a background then paint on top than to try to get a background in around the focal image...
***Something momentous happened when i showed this to hubby... he said it was 'beautiful' and i quote... ' You really should start painting on good paper' Woot Woot!!

And to top it all off Spring has sprung around here...The daffodils are up in force...beautiful spots of color... the Bradford Pear trees are in bloom... white everywhere... like snow... the snow we haven't had this year....Fall and Winter are never long enough for me... yes i'am one of THOSE rare people..lol I hope everyone has a wonderful day... I'll be spending mine out in the yard picking up limbs and rocks.. that is after  i do a little mudding on the walls... multitasking you know...:) Happy happy T day to everyone... I'll be popping in to visit... Hugs! deb

T stands for Tools of the Trade.....

Well this last week has been all about workin' in the CraftRoom baby!!! Yes! Above you can see the tools of my trade...lol  ...Thats a dust mask and a handkerchief  to go over my hair... if i don't the dust dries my hair out like nobody's business... a power sander and a hand sanding block... I like to use the sanding block when i can...it doesn't create as much dust... then a towel if i need to dust off an area to see better...

Aaahhh the CraftRoom.... I apologize for the poor lighting.... Still have a ways to go but if you only knew how far we've come... that far side of the room is almost done... then we move all the stuff on this side over there and put sheetrock on the roof!!!I won't have to look at those rafters anymore!!!

See that three foot space between the light and the wall?? Thats how much i have left to sand over there... thats it!! Infact since i took this photo the other day i've almost gotrdone!

Well since i sketched that girl w/ mug for the Warm Winter Wishes page i've had coffee mugs and coffee cups on the brain... So i sketched a few in my notebook and then made templates out of them so i can use them in the future..
What to do with the sketches in my notebook after i made the templates??? Why have a play with them... Here i added a morning glory vine and used gesso to block out the lines... I have to be careful not to use too much gesso .. this paper wasn't made for that..

Well my Tea People i hope you enjoyed a peek at my CraftRoom... I think we are going to make great strides in there next month... 'knock on wood'... If you don't know about Elizabeth and the Tea People... just hope on over to Elizabeth's and Bleubeard's  and she'll tell you all about it..  Big Hugs! deb
